This 36 year old HIV/AIDS patient presented with a secondary opportunistic oral candidiasis infection. The immune systems in suffers with HIV undergoes a dramatic reduction its effectiveness, resulting in the greater possibility of secondary infections, as in this example, where the intraoral Candida sp. organisms were no longer kept in check.
