This is an image of a patient treated at the New York - Presbyterian Hospital with cervical skin lesions caused by chickenpox. The highest incidence of chickenpox has recently been among infants and children 1 - 4 years of age, i.e. 100.4 cases per 1,000 infants and children, probably due to the early exposure to VZV (varicella-zoster virus) in preschool and child care settings.
