Description: This photomicrograph shows numerous Plasmodium falciparum rings; Magnification 1150X.
Plasmodium falciparum rings have delicate cytoplasm and 1 or 2 small chromatin dots. Infected RBCs are not enlarged, and RBCs with multiple rings are often found in P. falciparum. Maurer’s dots can be seen but are infrequent.
