This child with measles is displaying the characteristic red blotchy pattern on his buttocks during 3rd day of the rash. Measles is an acute, highly communicable viral disease with prodromal fever, conjunctivitis, coryza, cough, and Koplik spots on the buccal mucosa. A red blotchy rash appears around day 3 of the illness, first on the face, and then becoming generalized.
