This male presented with “early” late syphilis, and an overlying chancroidal infection of the penis and right inguinal nodes.
Chancroid is characterized by painful genital ulcers, which are associated with a unilateral painful inguinal lymphadenopathy in 50% of those infected. Left untreated, suppurative, spontaneously rupturing buboes occur in approximately 25% of cases.
